Co-operatives Fortnight kicked off on Saturday (June 19th) with the Co-operative Group’s "52 Ways to Change the World Co-operatively" event at Westmister Central Hall.

Ed Mayo, Secretary General of Co-operatives UK, launched the Fortnight with a speech on how small changes can make a big difference.

Tessa Jowell, Shadow Minister for the Cabinet Office, Olympics and London, followed Mr Mayo with an inspirational speech on how to build a co-operative future.

The event included a Marketplace of co-operative organisations, interactive workshops, including a Co-operative Kitchen and the chance to collect playing cards detailing "52 Ways to Change the World Co-operatively".

The event was organised by The Co-operative’s South East regional membership team. Owen Jell, Regional Secretary for the South East, The Co-operative Group, said: “We are thrilled with the turnout at Saturday’s event. We welcomed existing members and also newer customers through the door and really started co-operative fortnight off with a bang.

“We are passionate about educating people on how to make small, co-operative changes that will work towards those bigger ones, and that is what the event was all about."
