Ed Mayo is next Co-ops UK CEO

Ed Mayo Ed Mayo

July 14 2009

Ed Mayo has been announced as Pauline Green’s successor as Co-operatives UK Chief Executive.

The former head of the New Economics Foundation for over a decade, he is currently Chief Executive of Consumer Focus – the body set up last year to handle complaints for difficulties with post and energy services.

At NEF, Mr Mayo worked closely with the Movement through initiatives with the mutual think-tank Mutuo; he is on the board of the Fairtrade Foundation; and is co-author of the recently published Consumer Kids.

Said Mr Mayo: “In the current economic climate, I see more interest than ever in mutual and co operative ownership models.

“My role, and that of Co-operatives UK, is to build support among business leaders, politicians, workers and consumers for a more co-operative economy and society.”
