Success for water crisis entrepreneur

March 15 2009

The founder of One Water, Duncan Goose, provided an entertaining summary of his life as a social entrepreneur – a term he wasn’t aware of, until people kept telling him that he was one.

When, in 2004, Mr Goose was told that one billion people didn’t have access to clean water, he decided to launch his own bottled water – with all proceeds going to support water projects in the developing world.

The children’s roundabouts which power the water pumps — many paid for by water sales from Co-op stores — really caught the imagination and now provide a simple but effective solution across Southern Africa.

But Mr Goose is not restricting his efforts to water. Last December, on World AIDS Day, he launched One condoms — with all proceeds going to fund HIV awareness projects.
